Adam Keatinge interviewed by Mildred Foo

Hi, and welcome to PLS!  How are you finding your first few weeks here?

The first few weeks have been an eye-opener for me.  I hadn’t quite appreciated the size or scale of the operation when I was going through the interview process.  So the first few weeks have been a steep learning curve in coming to grips with all the systems and processes.

What exactly is your role in the company?

Having spent time with every department and out with the customers, I think my role could be defined as complicated. I have to be everyone’s best friend while playing the devil’s advocate!

What were you doing before you joined us?

My last role before I came to PLS was working for a training company delivering hospitality based employability programs to young people aged 16-25.

I hear you’ve been out with a driver on one his runs, how did you find it?

I haven’t been up at 3 am since my daughters were babies, so it was a shock to the system, to say the least!  It was great to see how the transport department works and their interactions with the clients.

Do you have any background in hospitality?

I have worked in hospitality from the age of 14 and have worked in a variety of Hotels, Restaurants, and Cafes throughout the country and at various levels.  I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the best in the business and served a few celebrities.

So, you must be finding the variety of linen quite challenging….?

I am not sure I will ever get my head around the many and varied range of linen we provide.  I have the utmost respect for the Production Team who have to deal with all of these on a daily basis, and know them by sight and touch alone!

What are you finding the most interesting aspect of your job so far?

I think getting out and about and meeting with the clients and seeing how pleased they are with the service and products that we provide into their business is definitely the most interesting.

And the most difficult?

With the vast number of customers, learning and operating ABS, our laundry management system, has been keeping me very busy indeed.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I have three young daughters so spare time is at a premium but what little I do have goes to the gym or trying to take my lovely wife out on a date night.

Lastly, how would you describe yourself in one word?

Cheerful 😊

That’s great!  Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.  I’ll let you get back to the very important task of organizing customer visits now!
